Street Oil Causing Lung Illness. Not Vaping!

The recent news about vaping causing lung disease is very misleading. The real culprit is marijuana, THC oil being sold on the street. Street oil is dangerous!

Street oil is causing the widely reported cases of lung illness. Not vaping! The problem is a combination of cheap Chinese oil cartridges dumped in the US and street oil. What is street oil? It is passed off as THC oil or marijuana oil. In reality, it is made by criminals in the streets who extract the oil in an amateurish fashion using noxious chemicals. The consumer then inhales the street oil that is full of dangerous chemicals used in the extracting process. The reporting on this has been grossly irresponsible.

Drug dealers are making street oil by extracting an oil from marijuana using dangerous chemicals such as lighter fluid.
Street oil is not made in a lab by professionals. Street oil is made without any hygiene standards, filtration, or quality control. And street oil is full of dangerous chemicals and toxins.
Beware that street oil may be packaged in such a way to look like a commercial product. It is not. Buy only from licensed dispensaries. Only use oil cartridges from reputable US brands.
Cheap oil cartridges from China are continually being dumped into the US market. These cheap cartridges do not vaporize. They burn.
Cheap Chinese cartridges have been reported to leech lead into the oil.
People are smoking burnt street oil, an illegal drug, and getting sick from it.
There have been hundreds of cases of mysterious lung illness. Sadly, there has also been loss of life. The media has attributed the illnesses to vaping. That is incorrect. In fact, it is lazy journalism and it is putting people at risk. By mislabeling what is happening, those at risk are not getting the truth. In fact, cheap cartridges and street oil do not vaporize, they burn. Victims are smoking contaminant ridden street oil. The message needs to be told loud and clear. Do not buy marijuana, THC oil and cartridges off the street.

Public Warning: Avoid Street Oil
vaping is not to blame for the recent cases of lung disease the real problem is marijuana oil

Members of the public are strongly advised to avoid purchasing any THC or marijuana oils off the streets. This oil is dangerous and likely responsible for a recent spate of lung illness.
Parents, talk to your kids. It is vital that they understand that street oil is dangerous. Smoking street oil is not vaping. It is smoking an illegal drug that is dangerous.
Teachers and school administrators need to make sure that students are aware of the dangers of smoking street oil. It is not vaporization.
The cartridges that drug dealers use to sell street oil are extremely cheap Chinese products dumped on the US market. These cartridges are very low quality with inferior coil wire. The metal coil components may break down when heated resulting in the user inhaling metal particles.
Understand that street oil is being extracted and produced by criminals who are using items such as lighter fluid and other noxious chemicals to extract oil. Extractions take place in unhygienic environment. Once an oil is extracted, there is no filtration or refinement. The dangerous street oil is put into a cartridge and sold on the street.
Street oil with THC is dangerous.
What Type Of Illness Is Caused By Tainted Street Oil Cartridges?
There have been over 200 people in 25 states so far that have required medical attention for lung inflammation. At least one death has been traced to smoking contaminated THC oil cartridges. The illness appears similar to lipoid pneumonia. Inflammation and fluids in the lungs have caused life threatening illness. Some patients have required a respirator. Treatment involves steroids to reduce inflammation. Patients may have permanent lung damage even after treatment.

If you or a loved one has smoked a THC oil cartridge bought off the street and are showing any symptoms of lung illness, breathing issues, then get medical help immediately. Tell your doctor that you have used a THC cartridge. The doctor needs to know. Get treatment as soon as possible.
Tainted THC Products
An investigation by Leafly has identified two specific products that have shown contamination.

West Coast Carts
Dank Vapes
This does not mean that other cartridges off the streets are safe! Do not buy any THC oil cartridges off the streets. Buy ONLY from dispensaries. ONLY use oil cartridges from reputable American brands. Do not buy cheap carts from online auction sites. Some reports indicate that cheap, black market Chinese cartridges dumped on the US market actually show signs of lead leeching into vape oils.

Why Is Street Oil Dangerous
Street oil and cheap cartridges are not new. Dealers have often used toxic solvents to extract a poor quality, dirty THC street oil. But the cases of illness are new. So what else has changed? Two things.

Thicker oil is considered to be a better quality oil. Street dealers already use shrink wrapped, commercial looking packaging to give their products an air of legitimacy. Now it is reported that they are using thickening agents to make their oil look like it is better quality than it actually is. We don’t know what the thickening agents are. But it is a safe bet that whatever they are using is dangerous and puts lives at risk. Do not buy any THC oil carts from the street. Be aware that legal dispensary oil may also be dangerous. There is little quality control in the cannabis industry.
Never underestimate the ability of a shady overseas manufacturer to make something cheaper. The tariffs have driven some disreputable Chinese manufacturers to increase dumping cheap cartridges on the US market. In addition, they are probably making the cartridges even cheaper by cutting additional corners in the manufacturing process. That means low quality materials, and inappropriate coil materials that are not safe to be heated. In addition, there are reports of lead leaching from the cheap cartridges into vape oils. Do not buy cheap oil cartridges. Only buy oil cartridges from reputable US brands like Mig Vapor or from your legal dispensary.
Do Not Blame Vaping For Lung Illness From THC Oil
Vaping e-cigs is not what is causing the reported cases of lung disease. Virtually every major new outlet is getting it wrong. The headlines blame vaping and then buried in the body of the story the actual truth is told. The actual truth being that the illnesses appear to be related to marijuana THC oil bought off the street. Also, the problem is worsened by smoking oil from cheap cartridges being dumped on the US market by Chinese manufacturers. Neither of these issues has anything to do with vaping an e-cigarette.

The headlines are dangerous because they dissuade smokers from considering a vapor alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes. The headlines also increase the risk that adult vapers will go back to smoking. The media needs to be more responsible reporting this story. The laziness is alarming. Vaping is not a monolith.

Furthermore, it should be noted that the cheap cartridges that street dealers are using to push marijuana oil do not vaporize oil. Instead these cartridges burn the oil. Users who buy street oil cartridges are smoking toxic THC oil. Smoking street oil is not vaping!

** Please share this information on your social media. It is important to get the word out. No one should be buying cannabis oil cartridges off the streets. It is dangerous and can cause an immediate health emergency or worse.

Finally someone said that! So, should I expect for cancel of the vaping ban? I prefer flavored e-cigs like Sea Air Vape only, and I want to see devices like this in a free access.
