As a professional translator or interpreter, what did you study to become that?

I entered college with the intention of studying American Sign Language (ASL), but the university I attended was still in the process of getting formal administrative approval for the major, so that was a no-go

Education for Interpreters and Translators A bachelor's diploma is typically needed to emerge as an interpreter or translator together with proficiency in at least two languages, one among which is commonly English.

I graduated from the faculty of linguistics. I received a diploma, so I can work as a translator/interpreter. If you feel that learning foreign languages is what you want to connect your life and career with, look for a college/University that will meet your requirements. In case you worry about entering it, I recommend to visit https://www.collegeapps.com/. This is an informative source that can provide you with much useful information.
