How to Track Leads?

I am doing lead generation for my clients for generating more sales. Recently One of my clients asked me that How can He track the Lead Generation campaign to find out the number of Leads? I am really confused about the methods of tracking number of leads. Is there any tools or ways to track the number of Leads? Can I use Google Analytic to do this? Please share your valuable suggestions and ideas. Any kind of suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think the 3 way you can track your leads :
1. Develop a concrete definition of a lead and make sure all employees understand it.
2. Install an effective customer relationship management (CRM) tool.
3. Distribute your leads quickly.

You can manually track leads, by inputting info in excel sheet. UTM codes are more valuable when rolling out online advertising campaigns as well as offline advertising campaigns.
