Forgetting that YOU choose your customers is an all-too-easy trap to fall into.

It's easy to start believing the people who run into you are random arrivals.

And that "everyone" is your customer.

Begging for buyers is not the mindset of power!

New business owners are often in a state of total confusion when it comes to finding out who should be their customers, though. They don't know what questions to ask. If this is the situation you're in, don't be embarrassed. It's normal.

What you want to know about a prospect is:

> Does this prospect have a NEED (or want) for what you offer?

> Do they have the BUDGET to afford your help and warrant your involvement in the solution?

> Do they have a PERSONALITY that is a fit with yours, so that you can get along?

If not--if just ONE of these things is missing, it's Not A Fit. Walk away.

Should you fail to consciously choose your customers, you will still be choosing them. By allowing just anyone to become a buyer, you will be permitting bad clients into your life. So don't complain about them--YOU let them in!

I wrote a complete article about the fact that you choose your customers, and it's here.
